2. MODULE 2: Brainstorming to task tree creation
In this next module, we will explore how we manage a simple activity, like going on a summer holiday.
STEP 1: Create a map & start Brainstorming
1) Create a new TPAssist Document,  i.e.
In MindManager 7, Choose New Map from the TPAssist Ribbon Tab.
In MindManager 6, From the File menu, choose New, then choose New TPAssist Document.
2) Rename your new Mind Map central topic (i.e. call it "My Summer Holiday").
3) Rename "Objective 1" to "Planning" and delete existing sub topics (i.e. Action Group 1).
4) Now start brainstorming all the tasks that are necessary to get you on the plane and off on your holiday.  (i.e. press INSERT and start entering tasks).
To save you some time, you could just copy'n'paste the items below:
Book Accommodation
Book Flights
Book Car Hire
Organise for time off work
Pay for flights etc
Pack the bags
Book the airport taxi
Hand-over work activities to team members
Enjoy the Holiday
Check Passport is valid
Pickup tickets & vouchers
Tell neighbours to watch the house
STEP 2: Restructure into logical sequence
Now that we have the initial ideas, let us restructure them into groups of activities.
1) Select "Planning", press ENTER and type "The Office" and "Getting on the Plane"
2) Now drag'n'drop the brainstormed ideas from earlier into the appropriate main topic (i.e. "Planning", "The Office" or "Getting on the Plane"
The result will look something like the following:

STEP 3: Convert to Task Tree
The final step is to create tasks from the brainstormed ideas.
1) Select the Central Topic.
2) Open the TPAssist Console i.e.
In MindManager 7 see the TPAssist Ribbon Tab.
OR in MindManager 6 click the TPAssist icon in the export toolbar at the bottom of the window or choose Console from the Tools menu, or choose TPAssist Topic from the Right- Click menu.
3) If not already, choose the "Topic" tab.
4) Now click the "Convert to Task Tree" command, and click OK.
Now you have a simple list of tasks that will hopefully make planning, preparing and going on your holiday all that more enjoyable.
Save your work at this stage as the remaining modules will make use of this map.
